Principles
A constraint framework — a working artist's rulebook for using AI positively, productively, and with purpose. 13 principles, one set for each phase of a Co-Creative Loop. From [v5] Book.
Phase 1Generation
making original work — ideas and first drafts, your authorship behind it
- 1.1Begin with the AI-last approach
- 1.2Your honest answer is more important than AI's correct answer
- 1.3Treat yourself like a generative algorithm
- 1.4Always cite the models you use
- 1.5Learn the tools of the craft, but try building your own tools
Phase 2Feedback
gaining insight into what you've created
- 2.1Human–AI overlapping signals tend to be critical
- 2.2Use both coordinate-based & coordinate-less feedback
- 2.3Novelty is not the metric — use AI to appreciate the obvious
- 2.4AI emotional support isn't strange
Phase 3Iteration
changing existing work on new insight; planning what's left to make or cut
- 3.1Personalize your scale of an iterative loop
- 3.2If you don't know how it works, you're in a bad place
- 3.3Become an expert in cross-skilling & agent management
- 3.4Decide what is the dirty work
These principles hang off the loop phases in the Creative Loops tab. Edit them in lib/loops.js.
